Charlize goes to the Forest
The book contains
twelve plates with no text, in which the story of a small girl is
portrayed who goes to the forest with her parents. In the forest, while
the parents are sleeping, she goes on an adventure with a spider monkey.
That is when she meets Lucia the Baby Sloth and her mother. There is one
page on which all important elements from the plates are named in Dutch, Sranantongo, English and Latin, as well as one page with instructions on
how to use the book.
The CD contains a website on sloths that tells the story of Lucia. The
website is interactive and contains pictures, video and information about
sloths. In addition, there are two audio files that contain the story in
Dutch and English as told and invented by well-known Surinamese actress
Helen Kamperveen on the basis of the plates. English narration is by Sean
Taylor.
A stuffed
toy version on Baby Sloth Lucia will also be offered. People will be urged
to take care of the toy sloth instead of taking an animal from the wild as
a pet. This is done so consciously and will also be used to promote the
work of
The Animal Protection Society Suriname.
A WILD ANIMAL BELONGS IN THE WILD! A percentage of the earnings is for the
Animal Protection Society Suriname to help finance their activities.
